10 venues were announced as the world's most prestigious venues in the Prestigious Star Awards 2014 on Friday evening at the Oriental Club in London. Hosted annually by Prestigious Venues, this is the only global awards program for luxury venues. The event celebrated the quality, performance and reputation of the world’s 10 best venues qualified to host the most memorable events. A mix of thought leadership, celebration and networking, the evening featured speakers from notable international venues including: Vidago Palace (Portugal), Necker Island (Virgin Limited Edition, British Virgin Islands), Gleneagles (Scotland), Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and more. Winning venues included Goodwood, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park and InterContinental Bali Resort.
The invitation only awards evening brought together the Prestigious Venues Top 100, including senior representatives from distinguished international venues, selected clients, corporate partners, prestigious event suppliers, and Prestigious Members Club associates. Attendees included Gleneagles, Sofitel Luxury Hotels, Virgin Limited Edition, Vidago Palace, Guoman Hotels, InterContinental Hotels Group, Farncombe Estate, The Stafford London, Marriott, Imperial College, Landmark Hotel Group, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and more. Other attendees included Liberty Global, Ernst & Young, KPMG, Omnicom and Smiths Group.
The event was a mix of three elements; thought leadership, celebration and networking. The evening began with the 'Creative Platform' element where 9 selected venues presented a variety of their most successful corporate and private events. These included a luxurious 3-day wedding on Necker Island, Gleneagles' 90th Birthday Celebrations, a cocktail party with Conchita Wurst at Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, The XXVI Portugal-Spain Summit at Vidago Palace and The Kings College Summer Ball at Middle Temple Hall. Post the Creative Platform, guests enjoyed a drinks reception with entertainment by Urban Soul Orchestra and bespoke cupcakes with edible pictures of winning venues by Vanilla Orchid Bakery. The Awards Ceremony then crowned the 10 winning venues and the most prestigious event supplier.
Guest prizes for 'Best Dressed' and Best Use of the awards hashtag #PrestigiousStarAwards were also awarded as was a two night stay at InterContinental Aphrodite Hills Resort in Cyprus.
